Asmat Drum Artifact Hand Carved Sculpture Irian Jaya, New Guinea – Lot 32. Up for sale is this ASMAT DRUM ARTIFACT from the Irian Jaya Region of New Guinea. An hourglass form wood drum, the body is carved with bands of ‘mbisür’– a tall tree motifs in high relief and the handle is carved with stylized bands of 'was' – open clearing in the jungle or tail of cuscus and head of Hornbills on each end in high relief.
